Nickely Burke, Artistic Director: Choreographer, Dancer, Teacher
Nickely is co-founder of Biserk Dance Company and has many years experience in dance, theatre and television. Prior to leaving Australia she gained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film and Television. On her arrival in London she worked for the BBC until 1994 when she opened Oxford Contemporary Dance School.

Nickely has choreographed 8 professional dance pieces with Biserk to date. In 1996 she was the winner of the Southern Arts and Thamesdown Dance Choreographic Award. Nickely is a regional dance artist and works for various performing arts colleges as dance teacher and choreographer. Nickely has worked with choreographers Aletta Collins, Yael Flexor and Hervé Robbe. She spends summers participating in professional dance workshops in Vienna.

Nickely combines professional work with community teaching in and around Oxford. She also takes teaching/choreographic work in Spain, France and Vienna.

Sarah Bishop, Associate Director and Dancer, Project Co-Ordinator, Unlikely Partners
Sarah is co-founder of Biserk Dance Company. She trained to Advanced Level in Ballet and Modern Dance and went on to study Expressive Arts at Brighton Polytechnic. Sarah has taught extensively and choreographed two professional dance works and 22 youth pieces. Currently working as a freelance Dancer/performer, teacher and Choreographer, she also teaches Contemporary Dance at The Jill Stew School of Dance, Witney. Most recent freelance performance work was with Charlie Morrissey, Small Wonder, a Site Specific piece, "Where The Land Meets The Sea" on Brighton Beach. At present Sarah is working on a pilot project with The Army Powerlifting Union, working with competitive Sportspeople/athletes and dancers.



Jo Lott: Dancer
Joe began her dance training, in contemporary, ballet and street dance, in Oxford with the Oxford Contemporary Dance School and the Celia Benson School of Dance. In 2001 she received a scholarship to train at The London Contemporary Dance School and worked with choreographers including Athina Vahla, Chris Tudor and Mark Baldwin before moving to Reading to study Italian and Film. Joe’s particular interest is in dance for the screen and in 2003/4 she produced two short films, Getting Ready and White on Green with the support of Oxford Film and Video Makers and filmmakers Peter Anderson, Nic Sandiland and Simon Aeppli.

Joe joined Biserk in the summer of 2004 and One Third of a Picture was her first tour with the company.

Kiera Martin: Dancer
Since graduating from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 1999, Kiera has worked with Spirit of the Dance (European and USA tour), Chaleroi/Plan K Company (Germany) and Footnote Dance Company (New Zealand). She has undertaken projects with Emma Thompson (Amsterdam), Yolande Snaith Theatre and The Place hothouse project with Beth Cassani and Jonathan Burrows.

Currently living in Bermuda, Kiera performs with the Bermuda Dance Company whilst teaching the junior company who, in 2002 were guests at The Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington DC. Bermuda Dance Company will perform a work by Kiera next year in Bermuda and New York of which she is currently in rehearsal. She joined Biserk Dance Company in 2001.
